Back to Horse Gaits in Motion

This simple animation shows a horse at the gallop (left lead) and is based on sketches by Susan E. Harris in her excellent book (which you can order from Amazon Books great site) called Horse Gaits, Balance, and Movement:

  1. First beat - right hind
  2. Second beat - left hind
  3. Third beat - right fore
  4. Fourth beat - left fore
  5. Pushing off - left fore
  6. Suspension - all feet are off the ground
