Problems and General Troubleshooting
Here are the easiest ways to correct any issues with your game:

Reset to defaults: This is the quickest and easiest way to fix those random little problems that arise. Just click the Menu button at the bottom of your game screen, and select Settings. There's an option in the Settings menu that's called Reset to Defaults. This will reset any changes you have made to game rules, art, etc. (but not your player stats) and often fixes any corrupt or out-of-whack settings.

Clean reinstall: If resetting to defaults doesn't solve your problem, you'll need to get rid of the messed up game and replace it with a working one. Here's how:

  1. From your Control Panel (there should be an icon for this on your desktop and/or in your Start menu), select Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Find your game in the list of programs that appears (it should be called Championship [Game] Pro) and click on it.
  3. Select Remove (or Change/Remove) to completely remove the game from your computer.
  4. After the game has been uninstalled, you can visit our Download page at http://dqsoft.com/download.html to get a fresh, working game installed on your computer. You do not have to pay any money, and the download will only take a few moments.
    • You'll need to enter your registration unlock code into the game to "unlock" it into the full version you paid for. If you don't have the code any more, just visit our Automatic Code Lookup Page to have it e-mailed to you within 15 minutes.
    • If you purchased your game before December 8, 2006 and you did not buy the All-Star expansion pack, click here to download a game which is compatible with your unlock code.

Windows Registry Cleaner: If your game is giving you an error message saying that your information appears to be missing or altered in the registry, or if the clean reinstall didn't solve your problem, here's what to do:

  • Remove the game from your computer by following steps 1-3 above.
  • Open up My Computer (there should be an icon for this on your desktop and/or in your Start menu) and select the C: drive. Then select Program Files. Look for a folder in Program Files called DreamQuest. If you see the folder, delete it by right-clicking on it and selecting delete.
  • Download our registry cleaner by clicking the link or typing http://www.dqzone.com/dqcleanreg.exe into your browser.
  • When the registry cleaner is downloaded, open it up and click "Clean and Delete." It should take less than a minute to remove the game information from your registry.
  • Follow step 4 above to download a working game onto your computer.

Sending a bug report: If none of the preceding options solved your problem, you may have discovered a bug within the game. If you think you've found a problem with our game, we want to know about it! Please send us a bug report so we can effectively diagnose the problem. Sending a bug report is easy! Here's how to do it.

Game too slow
I apologize for the slow play you're experiencing. The easiest way to help this is to click the Menu button at the bottom of your screen, select Settings, and then click Art Settings. From this menu, you can increase or decrease the Animation Speed.

Here are some other options which may help increase the speed and smoothness of gameplay, especially on older systems:

  1. Confirm that you do indeed have the latest version of your game by using "Check for newer release" on the game's Help or File menu.
  2. Consider upgrading your video card drivers. This may take a little research, but your games will likely run much better after you upgrade.
  3. Consider sizing your window smaller. The scaled graphical drawing on older video drivers can be slow, especially at high resolutions.
  4. Try doing a "Reset to defaults" on the Settings or Options menu.
  5. Switch to 16-bit resolution. True color (24-bit and 32-bit) modes are often quite a bit slower on some graphics cards and older video drivers. Do this by right-clicking on your desktop and choosing Properties and then the Settings tab.
  6. Disable graphical hardware acceleration. Older graphics cards sometimes have buggy or slow hardware acceleration. Do this by right-clicking on your desktop and choosing Properties and then the Settings tab and then the Advanced button and slide the slider down one notch from 'Full' and click OK.
  7. Consider disabling some of the visual options under the Art Settings menu. Some video drivers make the card highlighting and 'shadows' options especially slow.
  8. Verify that your temp directory is empty (usually C:\TEMP or C:\WINDOWS\TEMP). If it is not, remove the files from it. Also, make sure your hard drive has a few megabytes of disk space left.
  9. Make sure your disk is not too fragmented. Try running a disk optimizer/defragmenter such as Norton Speed Disk or Microsoft Defrag. If your system is several months old and you have never defragmented the disk, you will see noticeable slowdowns in fast-paced programs such as this.

Windows 7 compatibility
Our current games are competely Windows 7 compatible. However, games purchased before December 8, 2006 were not designed to be compatible with Vista or Windows 7 as they were not yet released at the time of development. If you have one of these older games and wish to play on a Vista or Windows 7 computer, you can simply purchase the Vista and Windows 7 compatible All-Star expansion pack. Please visit our All-Star page to learn more about the expansion packs, including pricing and ordering information.

Questions about mobile device requirements

Need the AppForge Booster?
It should have been included in your download! Unfortunately, we can't ensure the quality of games on our partner sites, and lately we've been notified that some sites do not include AppForge like they should. Don't worry, though; all you have to do is uninstall the game and re-download it directly from us.

  • You'll need to enter your registration unlock code to unlock the game into the full version you paid for. If you no longer have the code, just visit our Automatic Code Lookup Page to have it e-mailed to you within 15 minutes.
  • If you have trouble with or questions about your download, please read our Download FAQ.

Is your game not working correctly?
The easiest way to fix a problem with your game is to uninstall it and re-download a fresh, working game from our web site.

Uninstalling from a Pocket PC:

  • Do a soft reset on your device to halt any running programs by pressing the reset button on the back of your device with a pen or paperclip (you will not lose any saved data/contacts/programs).
  • Delete ALL Championship games (Including games that may be working correctly) off your device using add/remove programs.
  • Delete (uninstall) 'Booster' or 'Appforge'.
Uninstalling from a Palm OS:
  • Delete ALL Championship games (Including games that may be working correctly) off your Palm by clicking the Home key and then the Menu key and choosing 'Delete'.
  • Delete (uninstall) 'Booster' or 'AppForge'.
  • Delete any modules that include 'Ingots' in the name (these are part of Booster)

Re-downloading onto any device:

  • Just visit our download page and select the correct game and platform.
  • After the download, you'll need to enter your unlock code to "unlock" the game into the full paid version. If you no longer have your unlock code, you can have it automatically re-sent by visiting http://dqsoft.com/lookup.html

Can't sync to desktop
If you're unable to sync your mobile device to your desktop, don't worry! All of our games are available for download directly onto your device. On your mobile device's web browser, go to http://www.dqosft.com/anonftp/nozip/ and click the download link for the appropriate game and platform:

  • If your device is running Windows Mobile (also known as Pocket PC), select the .cab file
  • If your device is running Palm OS, select the .prc file

Mobile device requirements
The general rule is that the games will work on any device running Palm OS, Windows Mobile, or Pocket PC. The device must also utilize a stylus. If you're not sure whether your device fits our requirements, you can always download a free trial.

Registration Unlock Code Help

Bad Windows Unlock Code
Sorry about the trouble! There are only three possible reasons your code is not working:

  1. You are not entering your name EXACTLY as it appears in your registration letter (case, spaces, middle initials, and capitalization all count), and it therefore doesn't match your code. Try entering your code again under the game's Register menu, and make sure your name and code exactly match the way they appear in your registration letter. Copying and pasting is an excellent way to ensure accuracy.
  2. The code you have does not match the game or platform.
    • If the very first letter of the is code is a W, it is for a Windows computer game code. If it begins with M, it is for a mobile device game code.
    • The second letter of the code tells you the game it will unlock. This letter is based on the first letter of the game name (so S for Spades, H for Hearts...). The only exceptions are Chess, which is Z, and Checkers, which is K.
    • The first number of the code tells you the game version it's for.
      • Any game purchased after December 8, 2006 requires that the first number be a 7. This includes All-Star Games and Expansion Packs, which are game version 7.0 and above.
      • Any game purchased before December 8, 2006 requires a code in which the first number is a 6. These games are version 6,64 and lower.
      • You can check your version by looking in the game's titlebar, About section (in the Help menu), ir Readme.
For example, the code WR74-7927-2750 is a code for a Windows computer game of Rummy, version 7.0 or higher.

If your code does not match your game or platform, just let us know. Please include as many order details as possible so we can find and correct your order for you. We'll send you a new unlock code as quickly as possible!
  3. Your name is written in an unsupported format. Due to security concerns, your name should be in proper case with a full first and last name. If your name is in all uppercase or all lowercase letters, your codes may not work. If you need us to correct your name and send you a new code, just let us know. Be sure to provide the name and order information we currently have for you in our system so that we can quickly find and correct your account.

Bad Mobile Unlock Code
Sorry about the trouble! There are only three possible reasons your code is not working:

  1. Nine times out of ten, the problem is that the Owner ID you gave us does not match EXACTLY to your device. To figure out your ID, either look before the : when you choose 'Unlock' or follow the instructions found here.
    • For more detailed information about your Owner ID, including how to find it and why we need it, please visit http://dqsoft.com/ownerid2.html.
    • If the ID we have is incorrect, you can automatically change it in our system and get a new code e-mailed to you within 15 minutes. Just go to our Automatic Code Lookup Page, put your corrected Owner ID in the box provided, and check the box labeled "Change Owner ID in our system to get new code?" A new code will be generated and e-mailed to you automatically.
For example, the code MS64-7927-2750 is a code for a Mobile device game of Rummy, version 6.0 or higher.

If your code does not match your game or platform, just let us know. Please include as many order details as possible so we can find and correct your order for you. We'll send you a new unlock code as quickly as possible!

Game Activation
In addition to entering your registration unlock code, you must also activate your game as an extra security measure. Activation is easy, and you only have to do it once. Here's how:

  1. If you have an internet connection on your computer, you have two options for activation. You only need to do one of these things to activate your game: Click the Menu button at the bottom of your game screen. Select Help, then click Check for a newer release. The game will automatically update itself if applicable, and it will also automatically activate itself.
  2. If you do not have an internet connection on your computer, you'll need to type in an activation code to activate your game. When you start up your game, press Enter. Then, type "activateme" in all lowercase with no spaces (There is no input box, just type directly into the game screen). The manual activation screen will appear with the following information:

    Name:
    Code:
    Machine:

Please send us that information so we can send you a normal activation code right away.
